Javier Mencia-Ledo
I am a first-year PhD student in Biostatistics at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto supervised by Dr. George Tomlinson, I am also interning at AstraZeneca’s Oncology Outcomes Research department supporting real world evidence studies.
I am highly interested in the applications of machine learning and causal inference to risk prediction for chronic conditions.
I previously completed my MSc Biostatistics practicum at Dr. Zahra Shakeri’s HIVE Lab, where I develop longitudinal mortality risk prediction models for patients with prostate cancer. Concurrently, I served as a Research Assistant at the ReSTORE Lab applying machine learning techniques in predicting functional decline and work disability in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).
